Welcome

I am a professor of English at Saginaw Valley State University where I teach rhetoric and writing courses. I have also served as the Writing Program Administrator and the First Year Writing Coordinator. My research generally revolves around outsider libraries and the material culture of the book. For several years, I focused on protest libraries, and in 2020, the University of Massachusetts Press published my book, Libraries amid Protest: Books, Organizing, and Global Activism. My current project investigates how communities value books and what it means to consider a book as trash.
